Violence again and again on the way out of a bowling alley on some day of the weekend. This Sunday morning, after 6.30 a.m., a young man was seriously injured after being beaten and kicked in the face and head by five men who got out of a van in the city of Corrientes and fled the scene after completing the attack. Investigators analyze security cameras in the area to try to identify the perpetrators.
As a result of the assault received, the victim, identified as 24-year-old Victor Manuel Velázquez, was placed in a “reserved” state at the Escuela “General San Martín” hospital and both police sources and family members confirmed that he suffered a “fractured skull and facial maxilus”, but his life would not be at risk.
According to the newspaper Corrientes Hoy, the young man who is on medication was discharged from the hospital on Monday afternoon to continue resting at home, waiting for his turn for surgery in the coming days.
Faced with what happened, the young man's brother-in-law, Alberto Corro, explained that the aggressors “punched and kicked him in the face and in the head”, that “they could have killed him” and said that his brother-in-law did not see those who attacked him, so he cannot recognize them.
“He was walking alone, returning from the bowling alley (located in the area of the Costanera Sur of Corrientes), we think he was surprised and attacked on his back,” said Corro, adding that Victor “plays rugby, he is almost 1.90 meters tall and weighs about 100 kilos, but the aggressors, there were five.”
Corro also said that family and friends started a social media campaign requesting data and information from witnesses and of the dozens of responses they received, many agreed with the characteristics of the vehicle in which the aggressors were moving: “A 4x4 van, Volkswagen Amarok, dark gray color”.
For his part, the Director General for Security and Crime Prevention, Commissioner General César Fernández, told Telam that after a 911 call, police officers went to the scene and found Velázquez lying on public roads, “unconscious and badly beaten” and had his belongings, cell phone and money “that is why the hypothesis of theft is ruled out.”
The police officer agreed with the characteristics of the vehicle in which the aggressors were moving and specified that it would be a gray or black van, after which he also said that they are investigating security cameras in the area where the attack took place, near Lamadrid and Pasaje Morgan streets in the capital city.
“We are evaluating images from the security cameras, those from the Municipality of the City of Corrientes and also those from the bolich e, where Victor had been a while earlier with his friends,” Commissioner Fernández told the news agency-
It should be recalled that the regrettable event took place in the early hours of Sunday, after 6.30 am and the prosecutor Graciela Fernández Contarde of the Investigating Prosecutor's Office No. 6 of the Capital of Corrientes intervenes in the investigation of the case.
