Berrettini steps into his first round of 16 at Indian Wells after beating Harris

Second seeded after Rafa Nadal, Italy's Matteo Berrettini advanced to the round of 16 of the Indian Wells Masters 1000 on Tuesday, defeating South African Lloyd Harris in two sets.

Berrettini, number 6 in the ATP ranking, beat Harris (32nd) 6-4 and 7-5 in one hour and 32 minutes of play on track 2 in Indian Wells (California).

The Italian, runner-up at Wimbledon in 2021, imposed his devastating service (12 'aces') to win the first round with solvency and overcome an adverse 1-4 in the second.

Berrettini's rival in his first round of 16 at Indian Wells will be Dutch Botic Van De Zandschulp or Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic.
