The Ministry of Culture and Foreign Affairs reported that it announced that the Casa Carlo Bonte auction will withdraw from the auction. The information was released through a statement detailing that these artifacts will be sold at the event on March 15, 2022. Given these events, the Embassy of Mexico in Belgium contacted the auction house to express the disagreement of the Mexican government on “the commercialization of archaeological sculptures abroad and their negative impact on cultural preservation and spread.”
