Sandra Echeverria will be Maria Felix in Televisa Univision's bioseries

The actress was confirmed as the official performer of the greatest Mexican Gold Film Diva in the series that will be broadcast on the streaming platform ViX +

Even with the recent controversy that Vicente Fernández's bioseries has generated in recent days, Televisa Univisioni/i announced the first project in series format by Maria Felix. To the surprise of her fans and although there was even talk that the television station was in talks with Eiza González to return to Mexico to give life to the greatest diva of the Mexican Gold Film, the winner was another great actress.

Sandra Echeverría will be in charge of playing La Doña in a project that will have a large production and budget according to the first reports given by the nascent company. More than 20 years after her death, the actress will have her first project on television posthumously and she has already started filming the series that aims to be exclusive for the new streaming platform of the Mexican and now American company: ViX +.

Produced by Carmen Armendáriz who has already created projects in the company such as You Remember Me or the remake that started the new versions of Fábrica de Suarez, La Usurpadora; directed by Mafer Suárez and written by Larissa Andrade, Alejandro Gerber, Tania Tinajero and Gabriela Rodríguez, the story will be starring Mexican actresses Ximena Romo, Abril Vergara and the aforementioned actress, who will play La Doña at different stages of her life.

According to the social magazine Quién, this biographical series will have the full authorization of the family and legal owners for its creation, reproduction and distribution, so that the already emerging rumors about new problems within the company for portraying in its contents the lives of great figures of the Mexican show will not would be a reality this time.

The bioseries, which will soon define its title - despite the fact that in December 2021 it had been mentioned that it would be titled La Doña -, will share details of the iconic diva of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema during her personal facets as professionals. This is why Televisa Univision emphasized that “20 years after her death, the first series that will portray the acting legend will be made by a team formed in mostly by women”.

After the news, Carmen Armendáriz has already made the first statements about the new assignment that Televisa has given her, in which she assured that María Félix was a woman ahead of her time and for that reason she always broke with stereotypes that fortunately have changed, even some that are still in force, so she feels great responsibility for the entire project that will possibly captivate the Mexican public.

“Portraying the life of an emblematic figure of Mexico and the world, a woman ahead of her time who broke stereotypes is a challenge and a huge responsibility. Her story continues today and continues to inspire and empower women generation after generation. I am proud to produce the first series about the life of Maria Felix that will faithfully represent the legacy she left us,” she mentioned for Televisa Univision.

Mexican fans of La Doña have already reacted on social media to the confirmation of her bioseries and the first image of Sandra Echeverría characterized as María Félix and although most are good, other people have begun to question a series of such an emblematic character in Mexico.

“María Félix is another wave, hopefully be very careful because if we are not going to destroy that project in networks”, “Sandra looks beautiful like our diva”, “I'm afraid it could happen but at least in this first photo everything looks great”, “They better take great care of the actress with makeup and costumes because otherwise this project will be a failure”, they expressed on Twitter.
