On Monday, with 76 votes in favor, 41 against and 1 abstention, the Congress of the Republic approved the admission to debate on the motion for presidential vacancy due to moral incapacity against Pedro Castillo Terrones, who will now have to send his lawyer or go to parliament himself on Monday, March 28 to respond to the vacancy process. During today's session, which was held both face-to-face and virtually, the Peruvian Libre parliamentarian Guido Bellido was heard demanding that his fellow bench members vote against the admission of the motion.

At the end of the debate and the voting process began, some microphones of those who were following the session virtually were turned on and it was possible to hear what at that moment was saying: “Red did we send him, right? ” you hear one of the congressmen say.

Then you can identify the voice of the legislator of Peru Libre and former president of the council of ministers, Guido Bellido, who says: “All in red, ah! I'm looking at them! ”. Faced with these comments, a parliamentarian asked that the microphones be turned off out of respect for the vote.

Finally, only 41 congressmen voted in red, that is, against the admission to debate of the presidential vacancy motion, and one abstention that, paradoxically, came from the ruling bench: it was the parliamentarian Alfredo Pariona.

THIS IS GUIDO BELLIDO

In the afternoon, Congressman Bellido referred to the results of the vote on the admission of the vacancy motion and said he did not know the reasons why his bench mate Alfredo Pariona voted in abstention and not in red like the rest of his colleagues.

It is important that you ask Congressman Pariona why he voted in abstention. The rest of us have voted unitarily everything in red, except for Congressman Pariona, who probably has some basis for his decision,” he said.

The purpose (of the opposition), as it has always been since day one, is to bring President Castillo down. Don't let that out of your sight. All roads lead to vacating the president. It is natural that after having lost an electoral process where millions have been spent and millions of commitments have been generated, they are very hurt and want to recover the lost space,” he added.

“JUST A JOKE”

For his part, the spokesman for Peru Libre, Waldemar Cerrón, referred to Bellido's phrases during the voting process and stated that it was just a joke.

That's a joke and, as I say, get used to it. The audio has not been leaked, but the ones that have been leaked are the ones that have listened to,” he said at the front of the Congress.

Regarding Congressman Pariona's abstention vote, he said that this reflects a “true democracy” in the interior of Peru Libre and that he considered that discrepancies within the party are normal.

In addition, the legislator called the attitude of the congressmen who voted in favor of the admission of the vacancy motion against Pedro Castillo as “abusive and obstructive”.
