The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Monday, March 14, 2022 that, in the last 24 hours, 71 deaths from coronavirus and 4,647 new infections were recorded. With these data, the cumulative total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 8,976,079, while deaths total 127,257.

On this last day, 37,522 tests were carried out, so the recorded positivity rate is 12.38%. This percentage is encouraging, as it is close to the 10% recommended by WHO to consider the pandemic to be controlled.

There are currently 65,247 active cases in the country. These are people who were diagnosed with the disease and have not yet been discharged into the national system. Meanwhile, the total number of recovered amounts to 8,783,575.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, Argentina received more than 112 million vaccines against COVID-19. Of that total, 102,683,890 were sent to the provinces and 5,083,000 were donated to other countries. According to the latest official data, until the last update, the total number of inoculations applied amounts to 98,056,668, of which 40,501,769 correspond to the first dose, 36,675,528 to the second, 3,038,637 were additional and another 14,840,734 were booster doses.

This week, coinciding with the start of face-to-face classes, the National University of the Litoral (UNL) and the Universidad del Sur (UNS), in the city of Bahía Blanca, will carry out a coronavirus vaccination campaign at their headquarters aimed at teachers, non-teachers and students to reinforce prevention measures.

After two years of pandemic, the country's national universities will resume teaching face-to-face classes in its entirety since, during 2021, in most colleges of higher education, the remote and in several cases hybrid modality was continued.

In both UNL and UNS, vaccines will be available for those who must start or complete their vaccination schedules, as well as those who have to apply the booster dose, as officially reported, and members of the university community as well as the rest of the population will be able to attend.

In this context, the University City of Santa Fe, where faculties, institutes and schools of the National University of the Litoral (UNL) are located, will be used throughout this week as a vaccination facility based on an agreement between the House of Studies and the Government of the province, official spokesmen said today.

Health personnel will work in the Cubo building (Room 2) between 9 and 3 pm until Friday 18 March and interested persons will be able to attend without prior shift.

Around half of the UNL students attend the University City, since the faculties of Biochemistry and Biological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Engineering and Water Sciences, Humanities and Sciences, and Architecture, Design and Urbanism are located there. In addition, the Higher Institute of Music, the Higher School of Health, the National Institute of Limnology and the Hydraulics Laboratory operate there, among other units.

“The University is highly observed by the community and that is why we want to demonstrate the importance of getting vaccinated,” said Daniel Vega, rector of the UNS (@DanielVegaUNS)

For their part, Health Region I and the Universidad Nacional del Sur will carry out a vaccination campaign this week that will last until Friday. “Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 to 14 the health post will attend in the central hall in Alem 1.253 while on Thursday and Friday it will work in the reading room of the Palihue University Campus,” UNS spokespersons said today.

In addition, according to Télam, they indicated that it will be a requirement “only to attend the cardboard where the vaccines are registered, in case of those who have already received a dose”.

For his part, the rector of the high house of studies, Daniel Vega, referred to the importance of this initiative. “We know that there are people who have not completed their schemes and that is why we want to continue and deepen the campaign to reach 100%. We also know that the University is highly observed by the community, and that is why we want to demonstrate the importance of getting vaccinated,” he concluded.
