With Alexis Sánchez and Arturo Vidal at the helm, 27 players were called up to the Chilean national team for the last two dates of the South American World Cup, in which they cannot lose to Brazil and Uruguay to achieve the feat of qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar.

Sanchez, who scored a goal this weekend that gave his team, Inter Milan, in the last breath against Torino (1-1) in Italian football, will arrive on the difficult mission that Roja has when he faces Brazil in Rio de Janeiro (March 24) and Uruguay in Santiago (March 29).

Vidal, Sánchez's teammate at Inter, due to the expulsion in the match against Ecuador last November will not be against Brazil and will play Uruguay at the close of the qualifier.

But maybe it's too late for Vidal to save Chile. If they lose, and even draw, with the verdeamarela, the Red could only reach the World Cup via the repechage, as fifth in South America, even if it defeated the Celeste on the last date.

To make matters worse, young Chilean-British striker Ben Brereton is recovering from an injury that his team, Blackburn Rovers of the English second division, believe will not be ready to play for Roja, which would be a tough loss. Likewise, the technical director of La Roja, Uruguayan Martín Lasarte, summoned him.

Chile reaches the final dates of the world championship in sixth place with 19 points and must win its two commitments to qualify directly for Qatar. If you don't score the six points, you'll have to wait for other results to see if you get at least fifth place.

Chile's roster for the last two dates of the South American qualifiers is as follows:

Archers: Claudio Bravo (Betis/Spain), Brayan Cortes (Colo Colo), Zacarias Lopez (La Serena), Sebastián Pérez (Catholic University).

Defenses: Enzo Roco (Elche/Spain), Guillermo Maripán (Monaco/France), Gary Medel (Bologna/Italy), Mauricio Isla (Flamengo/Brazil), Paulo Díaz (River Plate/Argentina), Gabriel Suazo (Colo Colo), Sebastián Vegas (Monterrey/Mexico), José Pedro Fuenzalida (Catholic University), Benjamín Kuscevic (Palmeiras/Brazil).

Flyers: Charles Aranguiz (Bayer Leverkusen/Germany), Claudio Baeza (Toluca/Mexico), Diego Valdes (America/Mexico), Erick Pulgar (Galatasaray/Turkey), Marcelino Núñez (Catholic University), Pablo Parra (Puebla/Mexico), Arturo Vidal (Inter Milan/Italy).

Forward: Ben Brereton Diaz (Blackburn Rovers/England), Jean Meneses (Lion/Mexico), Alexis Sanchez (Inter Milan/Italy), Joaquín Montecinos (Tijuana/Mexico), Eduardo Vargas (Atletico Mineiro/Brazil), Victor Davila (Leon/Mexico) and Luis Jimenez (Palestino).
