Espanyol were defeated at home by Elche at Rcde Stadium on Monday. Espanyol were looking to continue their run after winning last match. Elche, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. After today's result, Espanyol are in 11th place on the table and has 26 points while Elche sit in 16th with 19 points after 20 matches.

Elche started the first half well, thanks to Pere Milla giving Elche the lead early in the first half. Elche looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a 2nd effort from Pere Milla in the 14th minute to establish a 2-0. However, Espanyol just before half-time hit back though via a Raul De Tomas goal, which saw the first half end 1-2. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 2-1.

For Espanyol, Oscar Regano, Nicolas Melamed Ribaudo, Nany Dimata, Fran Merida and Jofre Carreras, came on for Aleix Vidal, Loren Moron, Adri Embarba, Keidi Bare and Javi Puado. Elche brought on Josan, Josema, Pablo Piatti and Raúl Guti, to replace Tete Morente, Gonzalo Verdu, Lucas Perez and Guido Carrillo.

There were bookings for Keidi Bare, Adria Pedrosa, Raul De Tomas and Fran Merida from Espanyol. For Elche, Helibelton Palacios, Gonzalo Verdu, Johan Mojica, Gerard Gumbau, Pere Milla and Enzo Roco saw yellow.

Espanyol will next travel to Cádiz, while Elche will face Villarreal at home.
