Roma were held to 1-1 draw by Sampdoria down on Wednesday at the Stadio Olympico. Roma were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Atalanta away and Spezia Calcio at home, by 4-1 and 2-0 respectively. Sampdoria were unable to beat Venezia in a 1-1 draw. As it stands, Roma and Sampdoria currently occupy 6th and 15th spots in the league, with 32 points and 20 points respectively after 19 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Giallorossi fought back the second half, thanks to a goal from Eldor Shomurodov at the 72 minute mark. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as Manolo Gabbiadini equalised for Sampdoria at the 80 minute mark and seeing the game end 1-1.

For Roma, Felix Afena-Gyan, Eldor Shomurodov and Stephan El Shaarawy, came on for Tammy Abraham, Matias Vina and Jordan Veretout. Sampdoria brought on Alex Ferrari, Fabio Quagliarella, Riccardo Ciervo, Fabio Depaoli and Gerard Yepes, to replace Albin Ekdal, Francesco Caputo, Bartosz Bereszynski, Antonio Candreva and Kristoffer Askildsen.

The referee booked three players from Sampdoria, Bartosz Bereszynski, Wladimiro Falcone and Kristoffer Askildsen.

Roma will next play AC Milan away, with Sampdoria facing Cagliari at home.
