Inter were coming from consecutive wins against Cagliari and Roma. As it stands, Salernitana and Inter sit 20th, (8 points) and 1st, (43 points), in the table respectively, after 18 matches.
Nerazzurri started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Ivan Perisic opening the rout, 11 minutes in. Inter then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Denzel Dumfries, 33 minutes in, to take a 0-2 lead into half time.
Inter started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with a goal from Alexis Sanchez, 52 minutes in. The momentum was now with Nerazzurri, who then scored again through a goal from Lautaro Martinez at the 77 minute mark to establish a 4-0. Inter then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Roberto Gagliardini just before the final whistle with a final score of 5-0.
For Salernitana, Milan Djuric, Andrea Schiavone, Cedric Gondo, Pawel Jaroszynski and Nadir Zortea, came on for Simy, Grigoris Kastanos, Franck Ribery, Luca Ranieri and Norbert Gyomber. Inter brought on Arturo Vidal, Federico Dimarco, Lautaro Martinez, Roberto Gagliardini and Aleksandar Kolarov, to replace Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Alexis Sanchez, Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic.
There were bookings for Norbert Gyomber from Salernitana, and Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu, for Inter.
Salernitana will next travel to Udinese, while Inter will face Torino at home.
