Wolves left to lick wounds, following Brighton’s visit on Wednesday

Wolverhampton Wanderers defeat Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 on Wednesday at the Amex Stadium. Brighton arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against Southampton. Wolves were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Manchester City. Following today's result, Brighton and Wolves are 13th, (20 points) and 8th, (24 points), spots respectively, after 17 matches.

Wolves started strongly in the first half, with Romain Saiss finding the net just before half-time to see out the first half 0-1. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

Both coaches used all available substitutions. For Brighton, Alexis MacAllister, Taylor Richards and Adam Lallana, came on for Aaron Connolly, Enock Mwepu and Yves Bissouma, Wolves brought on Adama Traore, Leander Dendoncker and Fabio Silva, to replace Hee-chan Hwang, Trincao and Adama Traore.

The referee booked Yves Bissouma and Dan Burn for Brighton.

Brighton will next travel to Manchester United, while Wolves will face Chelsea at home.
