Roma's 2-0 win over Spezia Calcio on Monday, was hard fought at the Stadio Olympico. Roma arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Internazionale. Spezia, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Sassuolo. Following today's result, Roma and Spezia currently occupy 7th and 17th spots in the league, with 28 points and 12 points respectively after 17 matches.

Giallorossi started the game well, with Chris Smalling finding the net after only 6 minutes, seeing out the first half 1-0.

Roma continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Roger Ibanez at the 56 minute mark. The game ended 2-0 to Roma.

For Roma, Felix Afena-Gyan, Amadou Diawara and Edoardo Bove, came on for Borja Mayoral, Chris Smalling and Jordan Veretout. Spezia brought on Jakub Kiwior, Daniele Verde, Kevin Agudelo and Simone Bastoni, to replace Jacopo Sala, David Strelec, Viktor Kovalenko and Giulio Maggiore.

The referee booked Matias Vina, Marash Kumbulla and Felix Afena-Gyan from Roma and Felix Afena-Gyan (2 yellow cards) went off with a red card, while Spezia's Emmanuel Gyasi also received a yellow.

Roma will next play Atalanta away, with Spezia facing Empoli at home.
