Augsburg earn hard-fought win over Bayern Munich

Julian Nagelsmann’s squad travelled to Augsburg on Friday, but came away with nothing as Augsburg take the points

Augsburg enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Bayern Munich at the WWK Arena on Friday. Augsburg arrived at the game looking pick up points after losing their last game 1-0 to Wolfsburg. Bayern were coming from consecutive wins against SC Freiburg and Union Berlin. After today's result, Augsburg and Bayern currently occupy 15th and 1st spots in the league, with 12 points and 28 points respectively after 12 matches.

Augsburg started the first half well, thanks to a goal from Mads Pedersen at the 23 minute mark. The momentum was now with Fuggerstädter, who then scored again through a goal from Andre Hahn, at 35 minutes to establish a 2-0. Bayern in turn, then responded, 38 minutes in increasing their lead with an effort from Robert Lewandowski. The score at half time was 2-1. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-1.

For Augsburg, Raphael Framberger, Carlos Gruezo, Jan Moravek, Fredrik Jensen and Sergio Cordova, came on for Daniel Caligiuri, Mads Pedersen, Niklas Dorsch, Andre Hahn and Andi Zeqiri. Bayern brought on Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Nianzou Tanguy Kouassi, to replace Omar Richards, Marcel Sabitzer, Leroy Sane and Benjamin Pavard.

There were bookings for Andre Hahn and Raphael Framberger from Augsburg. For Bayern, Lucas Hernandez saw yellow.

Augsburg will play away against BSC, while Bayern will face Arminia Bielefeld at home.
