Stalemate at the Amex Stadium, as Brighton draw 1-1 with Newcastle

Both sides left looking for positives as Brighton versus Newcastle, ends in a 1-1 draw

On Saturday, Brighton and Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium. Brighton arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Liverpool in their previous game. Newcastle, on the other hand, were beaten 3-0 in the previous match against Chelsea. After today's result, Brighton and Newcastle sit 7th, (16 points) and 20th, (4 points), spots respectively, after 11 matches.

Brighton started the game well, with Leandro Trossard finding the net at the 24 minute mark, ending the first half 1-0.

Newcastle took the lead in the second half, thanks to Isaac Hayden finding the net, at 66 minutes. The game ended wih a 1-1 draw.

For Brighton, Alexis MacAllister, Neal Maupay and Adam Webster, came on for Enock Mwepu, Solly March and Tariq Lamptey. Newcastle brought on Joelinton and Dwight Gayle for Miguel Almiron and Emil Krafth.

The referee booked Adam Lallana, Neal Maupay and Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Robert Sanchez went off with a red card, while Newcastle's Jamaal Lascelles, Jacob Murphy, Jonjo Shelvey and Callum Wilson also received a yellow.

Brighton will play their next fixture away against Aston Villa, while Newcastle will face Brentford at home.
