Mission accomplished for Leipzig as they secure a 2-1 home win against Dortmund

Leipzig enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Borussia Dortmund at Red Bull Arena on Saturday. Leipzig were looking for a victory following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in their previous game. Dortmund were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against FC Köln and Arminia Bielefeld. After today's result, Leipzig are currently 5th with 18 points from 11 matches, while Dortmund sit in 2nd, with 24 points from 11.

The Red Bulls started strongly in the first half, with Christopher Nkunku finding the net at the 29 minute mark. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0.

Dortmund staged a comeback in the second half, thanks to a goal from Marco Reus at the 52 minute mark. Leipzig managed to edge ahead with a goal from Yussuf Poulsen, 68 minutes in, which sealed the victory for Leipzig.

For Leipzig, Emil Forsberg, Andre Silva, Dani Olmo and Konrad Laimer, came on for Benjamin Henrichs, Yussuf Poulsen, Christopher Nkunku and Amadou Haidara. Dortmund brought on Ansgar Knauff, Youssoufa Moukoko, Reinier and Dan-Axel Zagadou, to replace Marin Pongracic, Donyell Malen, Julian Brandt and Axel Witsel.

There were bookings for Tyler Adams, Yussuf Poulsen and Dominik Szoboszlai from Leipzig. For Dortmund, Jude Bellingham, Marco Reus, Axel Witsel, Thomas Meunier and Youssoufa Moukoko saw yellow.

Leipzig will next play Hoffenheim away, with Dortmund facing Stuttgart at home.
