Atalanta travel to Cagliari and secure victory

Atalanta snatched all three points from Cagliari in a 2-1 victory on Saturday, at Unipol Domus. Cagliari were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Bologna. Atalanta, on the other hand, were unable to beat Lazio in a 2-2 draw. As it stands, Cagliari and Atalanta are 20th, (6 points) and 4th, (22 points), in the table respectively, after 12 matches.

The Goddess dominated the first half, with a goal from Mario Pasalic early in the first half. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Joao Pedro managed to equalize and take the sides off, 27 minutes in at 1-1. Atalanta in turn, then responded just before half-time increasing their lead with an effort from Duvan Zapata. The score at half time was 1-2. The second 45 minutes ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Cagliari, Alberto Grassi, Leonardo Pavoletti, Gaston Pereiro and Diego Farias, came on for Alessandro Deiola, Kevin Strootman, Raoul Bellanova and Gabriele Zappa. Atalanta replaced Teun Koopmeiners, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Remo Freuler and Mario Pasalic for Matteo Lovato, Josip Ilicic, Matteo Pessina and Giuseppe Pezzella.

There were bookings for Diego Godin from Cagliari. For Atalanta, Teun Koopmeiners saw yellow.

Cagliari will play away against Sassuolo, while Atalanta will face Spezia Calcio at home.
