Borussia Dortmund beats FC Köln 2-0 on Saturday at the Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Arminia Bielefeld away (3-1), the other to Mainz at home (3-1). Cologne, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. As the table looks today, Dortmund and Cologne are 2nd, (24 points) and 10th, (13 points), spots respectively, after 10 matches.

The first half of the game started well for Dortmund, thanks to Thorgan Hazard giving Die Borussen the lead just before half-time

Dortmund continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Steffen Tigges finding the net at the 63 minute mark, leaving the final score at 2-0.

For Dortmund, Donyell Malen, Steffen Tigges, Felix Passlack and Ansgar Knauff, came on for Thorgan Hazard, Marin Pongracic, Marius Wolf and Julian Brandt. Cologne brought on Florian Kainz, Rafael Czichos, Sebastian Andersson, Louis Schaub and Kingsley Ehizibue, to replace Ondrej Duda, Timo Hubers, Jan Thielmann, Dejan Ljubicic and Benno Erik Schmitz.

There were bookings for Thomas Meunier and Jude Bellingham from Dortmund, and Benno Erik Schmitz, Timo Hubers and Salih Ozcan, for Cologne.

Dortmund will next travel to RB Leipzig, while Cologne will face Union Berlin at home.
