Real Sociedad squeeze past Mallorca in 1-0 win at the Reale Arena

Imanol Alguacil's team earned a valuable home victory and three points against Mallorca on Saturday

Real Sociedad snatched all three points from Mallorca in a narrow 1-0 victory on Saturday, at the Reale Arena. Real wanted to continue adding points after a 1-1 draw against Getafe. Mallorca, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Levante. After today's result, Real are in 1st place, with 20 points from 9 matches, while Mallorca sit in 12th, with 11 points from 9.

Following a goalless first half, Real applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Julen Lobete just before the final whistle and seeing the game end 1-0.

For Real, Andoni Gorosabel, Martin Zubimendi, Alexander Sorloth, Julen Lobete and Igor Zubeldia, came on for Robert Navarro, Ander Guevara, Alexander Isak, Adnan Januzaj and Portu. Mallorca brought on Salva Sevilla, Fernando Nino, Abdon, Iddrisu Baba and Jordi Mboula, to replace Rodrigo Battaglia, Amath Ndiaye, Angel Rodriguez, Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta and Kang In Lee.

The referee booked six players. Aihen Munoz and Portu from Real, who saw yellow cards and Aihen Munoz (2 yellow cards), sent off with a red, as well as for Mallorca Rodrigo Battaglia, Angel Rodriguez and Dani Rodriguez also seeing yellows.

Next up, Real are away to Atletico Madrid, whilst Mallorca will travel to face Valencia.
