The Yellow and Blues suffer defeat away to The Purple One

Giuseppe Iachini's squad claimed a valuable away win and three points against Hellas Verona on Tuesday

Fiorentina defeat Hellas Verona 2-1 on Tuesday at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Verona were looking to get back winning ways after losing their last game 3-1 to Sampdoria. Fiorentina, on the other hand, lost 3-1 in the last match they played against Sassuolo. As the table looks today, Verona are in 9th place, with 41 points from 32 matches, while Fiorentina sit in 13th, with 33 points from 32.

Fiorentina started the game well, with Dusan Vlahovic finding the net just before half-time, to take a 0-1 lead into half time.

The Purple One continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Martin Caceres finding the net in the 65th minute. Verona in turn, then responded, 72 minutes in increasing their lead with an effort from Eddie Salcedo, leaving the final score at 2-1.

For Verona, Eddie Salcedo, Mattia Zaccagni, Stefano Sturaro, Giangiacomo Magnani and Nikola Kalinic, came on for Ivan Ilic, Daniel Bessa, Adrien Tameze, Koray Gunter and Darko Lazovic. Fiorentina brought on Christian Kouame, Gaetano Castrovilli and Igor, to replace Franck Ribery, Giacomo Bonaventura and Cristiano Biraghi.

There were bookings for Koray Gunter and Stefano Sturaro from Verona, and Giacomo Bonaventura, Christian Kouame and Lucas Martinez Quarta, for Fiorentina.

Verona will play away against Internazionale, while Fiorentina will face Juventus at home.
