Torch Relay Sponsors for Vancouver

Coca-Cola is expected to be named Monday as one of the sponsors of the torch relay for the Vancouver Olympics.

A press conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Jan. 28 will reveal the sponsors for the relay, a source with VANOC tells Around the Rings.

Journalists have also received a separate notice from a PR agency alerting them to a Coca-Cola event in Halifax on Tuesday connected to the Olympics.

An official at Coke headquarters in Atlanta would not confirm the beverage sponsor’s involvement in the relay.

Coca-Cola has been a presenting sponsor of the past four relays.

There’s speculation that Petro-Canada, a VANOC sponsor, may also play a role. The energy company was the sponsor for the 1988 relay for the Calgary Olympic Winter Games.

ASICS to Sponsor Eurosport Beijing Coverage

Eurosport and ASICS signed a deal making the Japan-based sporting good company a key presenting sponsor for coverage of the Beijing Olympic Games on Eurosport media.

As part of the sponsorship, Eurosport will broadcast a 30-second ASICS commercial on television and also will provide online advertising during its Olympics coverage from May until September 2008.

The pan-European deal is part of ASICS' sound mind, sound body campaign, its first-ever global marketing campaign.

USOC Sponsor Offers Trip to Beijing

Tyson Foods, a USOC sponsor for the 2008 and 2010 Games, has announced a partnership with Olympic champion Mary Lou Retton. The sponsor will choose 25 nominees for the title of Gold Medal Mom, then invite the public to vote for the mother who will win a an all-expense paid trip for two to the Beijing Games. This week United Airlines, another USOC sponsor, began promotion for its Beijing Olympics giveaway in association with Visa.

Chinese sporting goods manufacturer, Hongxing Erke Sports Goods signed on as title sponsor for three events on the International Table Tennis Federation 2008 Pro Tour. The contract, signed by Hongxing Erke and ITTF marketing partner TMS International, includes Pro Tour events in Qatar, Germany and France.

Last year’s Title Sponsor Liebherr remains on board as a major sponsor, after its three-year sponsorship with ITTF ended in 2007.

Puma has signed a three-year kit contract with scottishathletics that will cover the team through the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. The deal will "ultimately provide a platform for success in Glasgow 2014," according to a statement from scottishathletics.

Olympic snowboard champion Shaun White signed a ten-year partnership with Burton Snowboards , the longest deal in snowboarding. White will continue to ride for Burton's Global Team and also will work to expand his signature line, The White Collection.

Saputo has been named Official Supplier of packaged dairy products for the 2010 Olympic Games . Some of the Quebec-based company’s packaged products will carry the Official Supplier mark. In addition, the company also will provide its products to the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic teams, and will supply the Athletes Village.
