The Beijing Olympic Village opens on Mar. 5 for a media tour. On an afternoon trip, journalists will get their first chance to look around the residential area on the Olympic Green. The tour will be prefaced by a briefing on construction, planning and operation at the Beijing Olympic Media Centre.
When the Village is operational, it will house an airport check-in counter, a commercial street lined with shops run by BOCOG partners, 16,000 athletes and officials during the Olympics, and 6,200 during the Paralympics.

Find the Lost Ring – a so-called alternate-reality game – began this week, challenging players to save the world by the end of the 2008 Games. Known as ARGs, these games consist of a series of online and offline puzzles set in a complex story. Players often must work together to solve them. Many known ARG players received a mysterious package on Mar. 3 containing a facsimile 1920 Olympic poster and some clues to the Olympic-themed puzzle. The sender was T.L. Ring, 1920 Olympic Way, San Francisco, CA – a fictitious address. Anyone can play at http://www.findthelostring.com.
