Visa Adds to Paralympics Portfolio - Sponsor Spotlight

(ATR) Olympic TOP sponsor Visa signs on as a Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Gold partner.

Visa joins the highest tier of the domestic sponsorship program for Tokyo 2020 in the category "Payment Systems".

"Visa and the International Paralympic Committee have a shared passion for creating a more accepting and inclusive society and we are constantly inspired by the determination and perseverance displayed by Para athletes," Lynne Biggar, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Visa, tells Around the Rings.

"Visa has been a Worldwide Paralympic Partner since 2003, and we are also proud to have supported almost 60 Para athletes as part of our Team Visa program. In the lead-up to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, we are excited to continue generating even more enthusiasm for this movement."

The addition of Visa brings the total number of Tokyo 2020 Paralympic partners to 71.

The company is the International Paralympic Committee’s longest serving partner. Last July, it extended its global Olympic partnership through 2032.

BWF and Total Celebrate Five Years Together

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Total are celebrating five years together by announcing Total Oil Asia-Pacific as title sponsor of the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2019 in Basel, Switzerland.

In 2015, Total became the first global energy company to partner with the BWF in a multi-million-dollar partnership to promote badminton and both brands’ footprints in the Asia-Pacific region and globally

In 2018, the BWF extended its partnership with Total as Official Energy Partner of the World Tour and title sponsor of BWF Major Championships up until 2021.

One of those major championships is the 25th edition of the BWF World Championships in Basel in August, which for the first time is being held in conjunction with the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships.

"We are delighted to have Total on board for both championships as we strive to completely integrate Para badminton into the whole badminton family," BWF President Poul-Erik Høyer said in a statement.

"Para badminton as a sport is now in a very strong position as we build towards the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. We look forward to celebrating this milestone and creating awareness around our Para badminton development initiatives for the foreseeable future."
