(ATR)The United States Olympic Committee could announce its selection of a city to bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics as early as this week.

Boston; Los Angeles; San Francisco and Washington, D.C. are all vying to bid for the Games.

Outside the U.S., the French Olympic Committee is also considering a bid from Paris.

Berlin and Hamburg turned in their respective bid proposals for the 2024 Games in September of last year. Arepresentative for the German Olympic Sports Federation (DOSB) tellsAround the Rings the DOSB will choose a city to bid for the Games during its session in Frankfurt on March 21.

Other bids are expected to join the race, though only Rome has declared its interest.

2022 Winter Olympics

Bid books from Almaty, Kazakhstan and Beijing, the two cities hoping to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, aredue to the IOC on Jan. 7.

The 2022 campaign has been a controversial one for the IOC, Around the Rings assignment editor Ed Hula III explains.Voters said no to bids from Switzerland, Stockholm, Munich and Poland. Lviv, Ukraine also launched a bid but Ukrainian Olympic officials ended the bid due to the ongoing political instability in the country.

A host for the 2022 Games is expected to be selected at the IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur in July.

PASO in Puerto Vallarta

The Pan American Sports Organization is holding its General Assembly at Mexico's Puerto Vallarta beach resort, Jan. 11-13.

The main item on the agenda will be the countdown to the 2015 Pan American Games. Toronto, provincial capital of Ontario, is hosting the event which opens on July 10.

Toronto 2015 says close to 7,000 athletes from 41 countries in North and South America will compete in 365 events across 36 sports.In terms of the number of athletes competing, the Pan Am Games is the largest multi-sport event to be held in Canada.

Asian Nations Cup

Five cities in Australia are staging competition for the Asian Football Confederation's 2015 Asian Nations Cup, Jan. 9-31.

Matches will be held in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne,Newcastle, and Sydney.Sixteen teams will participate in the tournament with six spots reserved for the host country.

GSD at Childhelp's 2015 "Drive the Dream" Gala

Representatives from the Foundation for Global Sports will attend the 11th annual Childhelp "Drive the Dream" Gala on Jan. 10 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Childhelp, a national organization aimed at the prevention and treatment of child abuse, has announced Olympian Scott Hamilton will emcee the gala.
