(ATR) For the second time in two weeks, Ukraine's national Olympic committee will receive a total of $400,000 to help athletes impacted by the country’s ongoing civil unrest.
On Thursday, the UNOC issued a statement saying the European Olympic Committees donated $100,000 "for the benefit of sport in Ukraine."
The IOC also donated $300,000 to the UNOC on May 14.
No decision has been made on how the UNOC will distribute the funds. That will come following discussion with the UNOC and Ukraine sports ministry.
Sergey Bubka, president of the UNOC, said, "One of our priorities as the national Olympic committee is to secure consistent, guaranteed sports funding.
He added: "My team at the NOC and I have recently taken a number of actions and decisions on this matter, and this donation will give our work a significant boost."
Even in the midst of political uprising and uncertainty about the country’s future, UNOC said it has been able to maintain funding for all existing programs and increase funding for teams preparing for international competitions.
