(ATR)Hikariko Ono, Tokyo 2020 spokesperson, hopes to have an impact on the role of women in more than just planning for the Olympics.
"If I take on this challenge and do my very best as a spokesperson for this organization, I could encourage young women in Japan to participate more actively in society."
Ono spoke with Around the Rings Editor Ed Hula in her first podcast interview as a spokesperson for Tokyo 2020.
She discussed her new role and the road ahead for Olympic organizers in the Japanese capital.
Previously a spokesperson for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Ono accompanied him to the IOC Session in Buenos Aires in 2013 when Tokyo was selected by the IOC.
