Tokyo, 25 April 2018 – The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games

(Tokyo 2020) announced today it is inviting the public to submit feedback on its draft Sustainability Plan

Version 2. The feedback period runs from today until Wednesday 9 May 2018, and the finalised Plan will

be published in June 2018.

Tokyo 2020 is working to ensure the broad sustainability of the Tokyo 2020 Games in environmental,

social and economic terms, and to this end published the first edition of its Sustainability Plan in January

2017. This illustrated the directions, objectives and some examples of sustainability measures due to be

implemented during preparations for the Games’ and during their actual operation, and is intended to be

a reference for all Games-related entities.

Building on the first edition of the Plan, the updated version contains detailed numerical targets and

programmes. Tokyo 2020 will incorporate comments submitted by the public during the current feedback

period into its discussions with the Sustainability Discussion Group.*

Members of the public may submit their feedback on the new version of the Plan during the period

Wednesday 25 April 2018 to Wednesday 9 May 2018. The submission forms are available at

https://tokyo2020.org/en/games/sustainability/#spv2 and those submitting feedback should attach these

to an email and send to the address given.

*To promote the discussion of sustainability issues, Tokyo 2020 has established the "Urban Planning and

Sustainability Commission", a body consisting of academics and experts from various NGOs. Tokyo 2020

has also set up the following affiliated organisations: a Sustainability Discussion Group, which studies

specific issues and monitors the progress of sustainability efforts, and a Working Group which reviews

issues from a more technical viewpoint.
