(ATR) The organizing committee for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is marking the six-year countdown to the opening ceremony for the Games with a unique social media campaign.
The IOC says the one-day #InsideTokyo2020 initiative will connect fans to the "people who will help bring Tokyo 2020 to life over the next six years," giving them a "behind-the-scenes" look at preparations for the 2020 Olympics.
Photos of Tokyo 2020 staff members will be posted on the official Facebook page and Twitter account for the Games throughout the day, introducing fans to those involved in organizing the 2020 Olympics.
Committee staff members featured in the campaign include Olympian Koji Murofushi, who was recently appointed Tokyo 2020's sports director.
"This is a very special day for Japan," Tokyo 2020 communications director Masa Takaya told the IOC in a statement. "On this day in 2020, the Olympic Games will open in Tokyo for the second time in the city’s history.
"This is the first exciting and symbolic milestone in our journey toward the 2020 Games."
