(ATR) Tickets for all 22 sports will cost no more than $63 each.

In proposed ticket prices released Friday, Games organizers said tickets for the opening and closing ceremonies will range in price from $72 to $1,346. For the sports competitions, tickets will range from $8 to $63.

Tokyo 2020 said the "affordable prices" were aimed at enhancing the family atmosphere at the Paralympics and to "attract as many youngsters as possible".

A range of lower-priced tickets is being considered for families and groups including children, senior citizens or individuals with impairments. Tokyo 2020 also plans to offer ticketing concessions for one million students across Japan.

Tickets for athletics in the new Olympic Stadium - a sport in which Japan won 16 medals at last year’s IAAF world championships in London, including two golds - will range from $18 to $58.

Tokyo 2020 is also hoping to tap into the appetite for swimming in Japan by offering cheap tickets. At Rio 2016, Japan’s Paralympic swimmers won seven medals. At the Tokyo Games, tickets will cost from $18 to $63.

"The Paralympic Games have a long and proud history of attracting a family audience, and the announcement of the ticket price outline for Tokyo 2020 will enable families to start planning their summers for two years’ time," said Andrew Parsons, president of the International Paralympic Committee.

"To attend a Paralympic Games in your home country is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I urge residents of Japan to sign up for more information on tickets as soon as possible.

"One of the stand-out features from previous Paralympics has been seeing whole generations of the same family watching one of the world’s biggest sporting events together in one venue. I am confident Tokyo 2020 will be no different and those who buy tickets will create a fantastic atmosphere for all the Para athletes taking part."

More than 500,000 residents of Japan have already registered at Tokyo 2020’s online ticket platform following the launch of the ticket campaign in July. Full details of ticket prices for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics are due to be announced next spring .

Tickets for Paralympic events will go on sale next summer.
