(ATR) Kun Hee Lee, senior IOC member from South Korea and chairman of Olympic sponsor Samsung Electronics, is reported in stable conditionafter suffering a heart attack.
Reports from Seoul say the 72-year-old was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after experiencing breathing problems.
A statement from the Samsung Medical Center says he received a cardiac procedure on Sunday and that his condition is stable.
The Samsung Medical Center said the procedure was taken to treat an acute myocardial infarction.
Lee has had to contend with a series of health problems since his treatment in 1999 for lung cancer.
An IOC member since 1996, he did not attend the IOC session held on the eve of the Sochi Olympics. Health related issues were believed to be the reason.
Samsung Electronics, which Lee heads, has been a worldwide sponsor of the Olympics for nearly two decades.
He is one of two IOC members from South Korea. His junior colleague is Dae Sung Moon, a member of the IOC Athletes Commission.
