The International Rugby Board is the first summer international federation to sign up for the IOC’s Integrity Betting Intelligence System.

The objectives of the IBIS are to protect sports from illegal betting, provide federations with information, and build trust between federations. By partnering with IBIS, the IRB now has access to networks of monitoring and data-sharing across sports, event owners, and major sports betting entities.

"The memorandum of understanding allows IBIS to cover not only the rugby events during the next Olympic Summer Games but also IRB’s major non-Olympic competitions," IOC sports director Kit McConnell said in a release on Wednesday.

"The agreement between the IOC and the IRB marks the first step in integrating all Olympic Summer IFs in the run-up to the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio."

The system has already been implemented in select HSBC Sevens World Series events, which were declared clear and incident-free.
