(ATR) The Italian bid has launched a search to identify potential training venues for the Olympics.
On Tuesday, the bid’s director general Diana Bianchedi – backed by the 15 leaders of the city’s boroughs – opened the technical inspections process.
The bid has appointed a team of 20 young architects and engineers to examine sports facilities of schools and clubs in the Rome area to locate possible training centers for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.
Assessment of the sports facilities is part of the cooperation started some time ago between Rome 2024, the city’s boroughs, schools and grassroots sporting organisations.
"The city’s needs are central in our bid. We want the Games to be an opportunity for Rome’s development and improvement" said Bianchedi.
Once the training venues are identified and selected, they will be integrated in Rome’s Olympic bid.
"The goal of the bid committee is to keep the needs of the athletes at the center of the project. Rome 2024 has chosen the venues because they can all be reached in 30 minutes, allowing athletes to train and live more peacefully at the most important moment in their sporting career," she added.
