(ATR) Snowboarding and Freestyle skiing are taking center stage over the next two weekends in PyeongChang.

The two disciplines are the latest to hold test events ahead of the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup began competition on Thursday, Feb. 18 with the men’s and women’s slopestyle, which wraps up on Saturday, Feb.20. The ski cross events for both the men and women will get underway on Feb. 26 and conclude on Feb. 28.

The FIS Snowboard World Cup is sharing the spotlight at the Bokwang Phoenix Park. The men’s and women’s slopestyle began on Friday, Feb. 19 and finishes on Sunday, Feb. 21. The following weekend, the men’s and women’s snowboardcross is contested between Feb. 25 and Feb. 27.

PyeongChang organizers will hope these events will go as smoothly as the hosting of the first downhill and super-G World Cup races earlier this month. Around the Ring’s Brian Pinelli reported from South Korea that the course and the operations at the new Jeongseon Alpine Center were largely applauded by the athletes.

The Alpine races were the first in a series of 28 test events scheduled ahead of the 2018 Games.
