PyeongChang 2018 Signs 1st Official Partnership with KT Corporation

SEOUL, JULY 1 - The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) has signed its first partnership agreement with KT Corporation, Korea’s leading telecommunications service provider, in a ceremony held at KT’s headquarters in downtown Seoul.

At the signing ceremony, POCOG President KIM Jin-sun said "We’re delighted to have KT on board as our first partner. This marks a great leap forward in our Games preparations. I believe that the partnership will provide further strength to our vision of opening up New Horizons through organizing an Athletes-oriented and Competition-centered Games."

HWANG Chang-kyu, CEO of KT said, "We are looking forward to cooperating with POCOG. KT will incorporate our cutting-edge telecommunications services technology to the PyeongChang 2018 Games. We also believe that this partnership will help enhance the experience of all Games participants."

The announcement ceremony was also attended by IOC President Thomas Bach, as well as Gunilla Lindberg, Chair of the IOC’s Coordination Commission for the PyeongChang 2018 Games.

As an official partner of PyeongChang 2018, KT will provide telecommunications service for the Games in areas such as wirelesscommunications, broadcasting facilities and other technology-based infrastructure.

KT is no stranger to being a partner for highly publicized international events in Korea. It was the official sponsor of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, the2002 FIFA World Cup, the 2002 Busan Aisan Games, the 2011 Daegu World Athletics Championships and the G20 Seoul Summit.
