Les nuages ont pris une teinte très sombre au-dessus du tribunal de justice de Paris, mercredi 17 juin, à l’avant-dernier jour du procès de Lamine Diack. L’âge très avancé de l’ancien président de l’IAAF (il a fêté ses 87 ans au début du mois de juin) n’ont pas retenu les procureurs. Ils ont requis une peine de prison ferme.

Lamine Diack est prévenu : la menace de passer quelques années derrière les barreaux se rapproche à grands pas. Le procureur de la 32ème chambre correctionnelle, François-Xavier Dulin, a requis à son encontre une peine de 4 ans d’emprisonnement, assortie d’une amende de 500 000 euros.

A l’évidence, la ligne de défense adoptée par Lamine Diack, souvent confuse et dénuée de la moindre trace de regret, n’a pas convaincu. Pendant son réquisitoire, le procureur a évoqué « une infraction à la probité qui a causé un préjudice mondial. »

Tout au long de la journée, mercredi, les deux procureurs sont revenus sur les accusations de corruption active et passive, blanchiment en bande organisée et abus de confiance. Ils ont décortiqué la chronologie des faits. Ils ont énuméré la litanie de mails, courriers et virements financiers découverts pendant l’instruction.
