(ATR) Plans for golf are on track for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics says International Golf Federation president Peter Dawson, though there are loose ends to tie down.
Dawson is at the Masters this week where the Augusta National Golf Club gave its approval to grant an exemption to qualify for the 2017 tournament to the men’s gold medalist in Rio. The same exemption will also apply to the other three majors in 2017 as well as the four majors on the women’s professional tour.
Dawson spoke to ATR Editor Ed Hula in Augusta about the gold medal exemption, preparations for Rio, drug testing for the players as well as prospects for golf at the Tokyo Olympics.
