(ATR) The 41 National Olympic Committees of the Pan American Sports Organization convene this week in Miami, Florida.
The week-long gathering will primarily feature a NOC best practices seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum.
The meeting is the first since PASO elected its newest leadership group at its General Assembly at the end of April in Uruguay. PASO chief Neven Ilic will preside over his first official meeting of all the NOCs since his election.
Ilic and the rest of the PASO Executive Committee arrived in Miami on June 10. A workshop was held June 11 before the official symposium begins June 12 with an Executive Committee meeting followed by a welcome reception by the United States Olympic Committee.
The best practices seminar will take place over two days from June 13-14 and will seek to provide PASO delegates with the relevant tools and information to begin preparing athletes for the PyeongChang 2018 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The Olympic Solidarity Forum will be held on June 16 and will be the final event of the week-long session before remaining delegates depart on June 17.
While in Miami, PASO executives will likely discuss progress towards establishing a secondary PASO office in the city that would be easier to access by PASO's 41 NOCs. Around the Rings is told that PASO currently has a few office options to consider before making its final decision.
ATR will be on the scene for the best practices seminar.
