(ATR)The Paris City Council is voting on a bid for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games on April 13.
Despite reports that the council is set to green-light a bid for the Games,the French Olympic Committee sees the vote as just one step in the decision-making process.
"It's a good step if the Paris council agrees," a spokeswoman for the French NOC tells Around the Rings.
"We need the agreement of all stakeholders [in the sports movement]."
She adds that the French Committee for International Sportexpects a final decision on the 2024 bid in June.
On June 3,members of the committee for a potential Paris 2024 bid will meet with the IOC to review proposed plans for a Paris Summer Olympics.
Paris was unsuccessful in its bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics. The last Games hosted in France were the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics.
Boston, Hamburg and Rome have announced their candidacies for 2024. Baku, Budapest and India may bid as well.
The IOC will open the application process for 2024 on September 15. A host will be chosen at the 2017 IOC Session in Lima, Peru.
SportAccord Convention World Sport & Business Summit
This year's SportAccord Convention World Sport & Business Summit will take placeApril 19-24 in Sochi.
SportAccord Convention is expecting representatives from over 1,000 organizations, 100 sport federations and close to 250 exhibitors to gather at the Sochi Expo Center.
The convention will be produced by the same agency that prepares Olympic ceremonies, ATR's Aaron Bauer reports.Filmaster will serve as a silver partner for the convention, becoming the sixth silver partner for the event.
Around the Rings will be on the scene for the conference, and a special edition magazine will be available at the event.
Laureus World Sports Awards
The 2015 Laureus World Sports Awards, taking place on April 15 at theGrand Theater Shanghai, will gather countless sports figures from across the world.
Film and TV star Benedict Cumberbatch will host the event.
The list of Laureus Academy members, ambassadors, nominees and guests so far confirmed for Shanghai includesChinese basketball star Yao Ming, former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, and other Olympians such asNadia Comaneci, Dawn Fraser, Michael Johnson and Edwin Moses.
Winners are selected by the votes of the Laureus World Sports Academy.
The awards ceremony will be sponsored by textile and wool manufacturer HengYuanXiang Group and the Shanghai Municipal Government.
Proceeds from the Laureus World Sports Awards will directly benefit the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which supports more than 150 community sports projects in 34 countries.
