(ATR) Bid leader Bernard Lapasset tells Around the Rings the Paris 2024 delegation received a "good signal" from IOC officials on a visit to Lausanne.
A 20-strong delegation from the French bid held talks with IOC officials Wednesday in the Olympic capital as part of the invitation phase for the 2024 bidding contest.
World Rugby chief Lapasset and bid CEO Etienne Thobois were joined by IOC members Guy Drut and Tony Estanguet, French NOC leader Denis Masseglia and the vice mayor of Paris. National federations and athletes were also represented.
Lapasset told ATR that officials from across French sport and government presented a "united" bid to the IOC.
"All stakeholders are behind pushing in the same way. We share the same vision," he said.
French officials met Olympic Games executive director Christophe Dubi and associate director of Olympic Games in charge of bid city relations Jacqueline Barrett and colleagues.
Lapasset described it as a "very open discussion." Paris 2024 presented and discussed all aspects of their Games plan.
He said it was important for the bid to "understand better the possibilities to adapt to Agenda 2020."
Asked about the IOC’s feedback to the bidding concept and Games vision, he said it was a "very good exchange."
Paris 2024 received a "good signal because we received good support about our vision and the process."
Lessons for Paris 2024 executives included "How we can progress to be a part of the Olympic Games in the future ... it’s important to prepare for the next stage," he said.
Lapasset said the IOC had emphasized the importance of transparency and flexibility in the bidding candidature.
"That is great. We are more flexible to adapt our vision ... open to solutions," he said, remarking on the constraints of previous bidding processes and saying the IOC had also talked about how the Olympics fitted in the vision for Paris and France as a whole.
Paris 2024 is officially set to declare its candidacy at the end of June.
Boston, Budapest, Hamburg and Rome are the other bidders vying for the 2024 Games, although the official application deadline is Sept. 15.
The host city vote is schedule for the IOC Session in Lima, Peru in 2017.
