(ATR) Around the Rings is told that PyeongChang 2018 will announce Lotte Group as its latest top sponsor on Wednesday.

Gunilla Lindberg, IOC co-comm chair for PyeongChang 2018, said the sponsor contract would be signed on the final day of the commission’s sixth visit to the Korean host.

The Asian confectionery manufacturer supported the Korean bid for the 2018 Games. In January, Lotte Group chair Shin Dong-bin, who leads the Korea Ski Association, donated $4.2 million to sponsor a series of Olympic test events.

Lindberg said the IOC delegation had a "very good and productive" first day in PyeongChang when the inspection team received updates and visited some of the five venues in the Gangneung cluster. They toured the curling and hockey venues and the Olympic and media villages. She reported there were no major changes to the Olympic venue plan.

A PyeongChang 2018 spokeswoman told ATR the venue tour around Gangneung "went smoothly".

POCOG president Yang-ho Cho and his team along with members of the Korean Olympic Committee and sports ministry spent Tuesday updating the IOC on recent test events and venue construction as well as other aspects of Games preparations.

A joint IOC and PyeongChang 2018 press conference will take place on Wednesday, wrapping up the three-day visit.
