NBC Olympics Presents Coverage of 2018 Youth Olympic Games

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 3, 2018 – NBC Olympics will present more than 60 hours of comprehensive coverage of the 2018 Youth Olympic Games presented by SportsEngine from Buenos Aires, Argentina, over a 13-day period exclusively on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. Live coverage begins with the Opening Ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. ET.

The Youth Olympic Games will be broadcast in the U.S. exclusively on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and will feature many sports that will be contested at the 2020 Tokyo Games, including mainstays such as track and field and swimming, as well as events that will be added to the Olympics in 2020, such as sport climbing, karate and 3-on-3 basketball. Coverage concludes on Thursday, Oct. 18, with the Closing Ceremony. Carolyn Manno, a veteran of four Olympic Games, will anchor Youth Olympics Games coverage.

In addition, U.S. viewers will have access to extensive live streaming coverage of many events via OlympicChannel.com’s "YOG Channel," a 24/7 dedicated streaming service, as well as additional streaming feeds from a variety of sports venues. NBC Sports’ linear coverage will be simul-streamed across NBC Sports and Olympic Channel digital platforms.

First held in Singapore in 2010, the Youth Olympic Games have expanded to feature 32 sports and 36 disciplines. More than 4,000 athletes from 206 nations, between 14 and 18 years of age, are expected to compete in Buenos Aires, including 87 athletes from the United States.

The American contingent is highlighted by golfer Lucy Li, who became the youngest player in history to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open at age 11; Kanak Jha, who competed in table tennis for Team USA at the Olympic Games in Rio; and Pat McCaffery, a basketball player and cancer survivor who signed a national letter of intent with the University of Iowa, where his father is the head coach.

Olympic snowboarding gold medalist Chloe Kim and U.S. 100m track champion Noah Lyles are among the many notable athletes who have previously competed at the Youth Olympic Games.
