FILA World Championships

The International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) kicks offcompetition today in Budapest, Hungary for the 2013 World Championships.

Wrestlers will compete in all three international styles of men's freestyle, men's Greco-Roman and women's freestyle wrestling. Events continue through September 22.

Wrestling was reinstated to the 2020 Games program during the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Thomas Bach

Newly elected IOC President Thomas Bach arrives in Lausanne, Switzerland on Tuesday to begin his duties as IOC president.

The IOC elected Bach as its ninth president on September 10 during the 125th IOC Sessionin Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Rio 2016 Canoe Slalom Venue

The IOC Athletes' Commission is expected to meet in Brazil today to discuss the canoe slalom venue for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

The issue up for discussion: whetherthe Foz do Iguassu course could host the competition to reduce costs and construction burdens.Foz do Iguassu hosted the 2007 Canoe Slalom World Championships.

The International Rugby Board will host an informal media update with Chief Executive Brett Gosper on Wednesday, September 18. This week marks two years to go until the 2015 Rugby World Cup 2015 kicks off in England.

UCI News

Toscana, Italy will stage the International Cycling Union's (UCI) 2013 Road World Championships, September 22 through September 29.

The UCI will elect its new president on September 27 in Florence, Italy.British Cycling chief Brian Cookson is campaigning against the UCI'ssitting two-term president Pat McQuaid.

FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

Tahiti will stage the seventh edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. The "beach showdown" begins Wednesday and continues through September 28.

Road to Sochi 2014

The IOC conducts the 10th and final Coordination Commission in Sochi, Russia September 24 through September 26.

The Sochi Olympic flame lighting ceremony takes place in Olympia, Greece on September 29. Newly elected IOC president Thomas Bach plans to attend the lighting. The 2014 Winter Olympics begin on February 7.

America's Cup Finals

Matches take place in the world's most prestigious sailing event through September 21. Emirates Team New Zealand is challenging Oracle Team USA for the title.Sailing takes place in San Francisco.
