The 2014 International Hockey Federation World Cup began on Saturday.

Defending champions Australia took on Malaysia in the inaugural match, held in The Hague, Netherlands.Next the New Zealand women's team faced off against Belgium.

The Argentinian women's team hopes to defend its 2010 title.

The Australian men's team kicks off competition today in a game against Malaysia. Competition ends June 15.

Judo Grand Prix

The International Judo Federation's Grand Prix begins Friday in Havana, Cuba.

This is Cuba's first time hosting the IJF World Judo Tour.

IJF president Marius Vizer has saidthe Havana Grand Prix is the "first event of the 2016 Olympic qualification phase" for judo.Competition ends on Sunday.

Around the Rings will be on the scene in Havana to cover the event.

2014 FIS Congress

The 49th International Skiing Federation Congress commenced on Sunday in Barcelona, Spain.

TheRoyal Spanish Winter Sports Federation (RFEDI) has previously hosted the FIS on three occassions:Madrid in 1961, Barcelona in 1969, and Puerto de la Cruz in 1981.

The FIS Congress will conclude on Friday, June 6.

TSE Academy Conference

The first edition of TSE Consulting's Academy Conference opens on Wednesday at the newly renovated Olympic museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.

"The Academy" will gather some 200 sports leaders from around the world for a two-day conference featuring international experts who will share advice on financing, promotion, development, and leadership in national sport organizations.

French Open

The 2014 French Open commenced on May 25 at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France.

Spain's Rafael Nadal and U.S. tennis star Serena Williams were the defending French Open champions.

Williams lost to Spain'sGarbine Muguruza on May 29.Competition ends Sunday, June 8.
