(ATR) Olympic champion and LA 2024 ambassador Michael Johnson says Los Angeles offers the right conditions to stage the Games successfully.

"I think that where we are right now with the Olympic Movement, it is time for a change and I believe the Los Angeles bid represents the sort of direction we need to take the Olympics," Michael Johnson tells Around the Rings in a special edition ATRadio from the SportAccord Convention in Denmark.

Johnson joined ATR Editor Ed Hula following LA 2024’s presentation to the Summer Olympic International Federations at the ASOIF General Assembly on April 4. LA 2024 presented its Olympic project before its competitors from Paris 2024 detailed their vision for the Games.

Johnson tells ATR that each of the contenders would be fantastic hosts for the 2024 edition of the Games but that the IOC should consider several factors when making its final decision this September in Lima, Peru.

"I think what it will come down to is really looking at who’s ready to host the Games in 2024 with the lowest risk," he says. "With seven years to go, who provides the biggest guarantee, the lowest risk and the most acceptance?"

Listen below to hear more about Johnson’s work with LA 2024 and his thoughts on the Olympic Movement as a four-time gold medalist.
