(ATR) Athletes competing at Tokyo 2020 won't be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the host city during their stay.
The IOC’s Tokyo 2020 coordination commission chairman John Coates, speaking with Sky News Australia, revealed that the athletes will be limited to the Olympic Village and their competition venues during the Games. They will also be tested for COVID-19 every four days.
His comments come ahead of next week's planned rollout of the IOC's "playbook" for holding the Tokyo Olympics during the continuing pandemic.
Coates also said in the interview that the Tokyo Games were "never off" and that the idea they would not go ahead as planned was just a rumor.
