Sponsored by the Brazilian Olympic Committee the 1st Edition of the Brazilian Olympic Congress will be held on April 13, 2019, at the WTC Events Center, in São Paulo, with the theme High Impact Sport – Strategies for Effective Results. Leading international specialists will assemble to discuss how to deal with the challenges faced by Olympic Sport in Brazil. They are: Bob Bowman, head coach of Arizona State University swimming team, four times Olympic coach and Michael Phelps’ personal coach; Chelsea Warr, Performance Director of UK Sport; Maurits Hendriks, High Performance Director of the Netherlands Olympic Team of the Dutch Olympic Committee; Chris O’Brien, deputy director of Performance of the Australian Institute of Sport; Michael Vesper, Senior consultant of the International Olympic Committee; and Aaron Coutts, director, Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA).
Among Brazilian specialists are Bernardo Rocha de Rezende (Bernardinho), twice Olympic champion volleyball coach; Jorge Bichara, COB Director of Sports; Antonio Carlos Gomes, educational consultant of IOB/COB Brazilian Academy of Coaches; Roberto Nahon, COB Coordinator of Medical Actions; Carlos Alberto Cavalheiro, Technical-scientific coordinator of the Olympic Laboratory and Head of COB Performance Analysis and Athletics Department; and Renato Rocha, researcher at the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The event will also mark the 10th anniversary of the Brazilian Olympic Institute (IOB), COB Education Department, which by qualifying professionals and disseminating knowledge has been making a significant contribution to the development of national elite sport.
Exhibition of Academic Papers
Academic papers were selected for the exhibition of the 1st Brazilian Olympic Congress. It is a great opportunity offered to professionals engaged in sport research to show their work to an audience of officials, managers, coaches, athletes and other sport science professionals, agents of transformation of Brazilian Olympic sport. The papers will be based on the theme High Impact Sport Management – Strategies for Effective Results.
Live Experiences
In the shared areas of the Congress, participants will have the opportunity to engage in practical activities like the Circuit of COB Olympic Laboratory that was created to assist Brazilian athletes to improve their performance based on scientific support to Olympic sports and research and development in sport.
The Olympic Laboratory, which is part of Time Brasil Training Center, provides scientific data to coaches, thereby assisting them to make the best decisions when designing the training programs for the athletes. These metrics help to minimize the risk of injury, therefore increasing the quality of training and leading to improved results in the courts, pools, tracks and stadiums.
The event also includes an entertainment program that will create opportunities for exchanges of information and knowledge between participants. Exhibitions will create an opportunity for interaction with sport through memories, photos, images and theses that have impacted the segment. An experience to add further knowledge in a informal and creative way.

Registrations at event site: congresso.cob.org.br. The registration fee for professionals and academic exhibitors will be R$ 225. Students pay half fee. Payment can be made by credit card, in up to three installments, or cash by bank payment slip. The amount includes lectures, practical activities, exhibitions and the attendance certificate.
