(ATR)The IOC will celebrate its centenary in Lausanne June 26-28 with a variety of festivities that are open to the public.
The celebration begins on the evening of Friday, June 26 with a centenary race and walk that finishes in the Stade Pierre de Coubertin.
The race and walk begin at 7:45 PM but guests are welcome to arrive at the stadium at 6:00 PM for food, beverage and a free concert by soul group The Excitements. The party will conclude with a fireworks display.

Over the weekend, Lausanne will open the doors to a few of their sport organizations to the public for free between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. These include the IOC headquarters, the Olympic Museum, the former office of Olympic founder Pierre de Coubertin and the former IOC headquarters at Montbenon Casino. Different activities will take place at each location with guided tours available of each facility.
The IOC headquarters will give an introduction to golf and Greek games, the Olympic Museum plays host to a wrestling demonstration by Nadine Tokar and a concert from Quatuor Sine Nomine, archery and more concerts will be on display at Pierre de Coubertin’s former office and a surprise sport will be awaiting those who visit Montbenon Casino, followed by a street performance.
Although the festivities end after the weekend, the Lausanne railway station will coordinate with these locations to offer more free exhibitions through the middle of October.
The free exhibitions will end at the conclusion of Olympic Week, a week dedicated to offering free sports and cultural activities to young people ages eight to 15 from October 11 to the 15.
