The International World Games Association (IWGA) has been following the development of the COVID-19 epidemic closely. "We understand the scale of the crisis. At the moment, the main priority for us all is the safety of all the athletes, officials, staff and their loved ones", says President José Perurena.

The SportAccord Convention in Lausanne, Switzerland was cancelled four days ago. Consequently, the IWGA Executive Committee (ExCo) has in their recent meeting decided to cancel the Annual General Meeting of the IWGA that was to be held in conjunction with the SportAccord Convention, on 23 April 2020.

"The IWGA ExCo held a conference call today to discuss a new date for the Annual Meeting and decided to hold the 2020 AGM to Lausanne, in conjunction with the IF Forum in early November, 04-06 November. Taking into consideration the need to minimize costs and loss of time for participants, the ExCo agreed, if at all possible, to schedule the meeting for Friday, 06 November 2020 from 14.00-18.00 in Lausanne", President Perurena said.

The timings are subject to confirmation, because SportAccord Convention has not yet announced the detailed programme of the IF Forum. IWGA will in due time announce the exact location and confirm the date and the time.

The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 15-25 July 2021. 3,600 athletes from over 30 sports and 100 countries will take part in the Games.
