ISU, Infront Ink Extension - Federations Focus

(ATR) The International Skating Union (ISU) extends its media rights agreement with Infront for another four seasons.

The deal includes coverage in China from the 2020/21 season.

The extension runs from 2023/24 until the end of the 2026/27 season and includes media rights across all territories worldwide excluding Canada, Japan, Korea and the United States.

The partnership includes the annual ISU World, European and Four Continents Championships in Speed Skating, Short Track Speed Skating and Figure Skating, and World Synchronized Skating Championships. It also covers all ISU World Cup Speed Skating, ISU World Cup Short Track and ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating competitions.

"The agreement with Infront underpins our aim to further grow the popularity and exposure of the ISU disciplines worldwide. In particular, we are committed to expanding digital content and engagement," ISU president Jan Dijkema said in a statement.

AIBA President Visits Uzbekistan

AIBA president Umar Kremlev made an official visit to Uzbekistan, meeting with the country’s prime minister and holding a joint training session with athletes.

The agenda for Kremlev’s talks with Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov on April 5 focused on the development of boxing in the country and the 2023 Men’s World Championships, which were awarded last week to the Uzbek capital of Tashkent.

The previous day, Kremlev took part in a training session with top boxers and the junior national team of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.

‘My task is to be closer to our athletes and coaches. We stand for true and beautiful fights and for professional judging. And we, as functionaries, should create all necessary conditions for you," Kremlev told them.

‘We all are a united family. If you are a champion you belong to the nation, the whole world is watching you. This is a high responsibility and hard work. Give as much effort as you can and we will support you from our side,’ he added.

After the session, Kremlev presented boxing equipment to the athletes and coaches.

During his visit to Uzbekistan, Kremlev also met with the Chairman of the NOC Rustam Shaabdurakhmonov and the First Deputy Chairman of the Boxing Federation of Ukbezkistan Saken Polatov.

GAISF, sportanddev Sign Partnership

The Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) and sportanddev signed a partnership agreement this week to promote sustainable development initiatives of International Sports Federations and the global sports community.

Launched as part of GAISF’s International Day of Sport for Development and Peace activities on April 6, the reciprocal deal calls for sportanddev to publish sustainability.sport content and vice versa.

sportanddev is the leading global hub for the sport and development community to share knowledge, build good practice, coordinate with others and create partnerships. Sustainability.sport is the free online platform, developed by GAISF in collaboration with the IOC, that acts as a portal to collate sport’s efforts in sustainability.

"We are delighted to mark the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace by partnering with sportanddev to promote sustainable development initiatives by GAISF Members around the world," GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli said in a statement.

Sustainability.sport and sportanddev are both invaluable platforms for sports organisations aiming to champion good causes, so this partnership is a perfect fit."

sportanddev Senior Project Manager Paul Hunt added "Ultimately, this partnership will help amplify the message that sustainable development is truly at the heart of sport."
