(ATR) Around the Rings has learned that the Host City of the 2024 Summer Olympics will be chosen by the IOC on Sept. 13, 2017.

A source familiar with the organization of the 2017 IOC Session confirmed to ATR the date of the Host City selection as well as the dates of the IOC executive board and IOC Session.

The IOC executive board will meet in Lima from Sept. 11-12 before the two-day IOC Session begins on Sept. 13 with the bid presentations and Host City selection. Budapest, Los Angeles, Paris or Rome will be chosen as the host of the 2024 Summer Games that afternoon. The IOC Session could extend to a third day if the IOC deems it necessary.

The 2017 session marks the 130th edition of the event, yet Lima will only be the fourth South American city to host. Montevideo, Uruguay in 1979, Buenos Aires in 2013 and Rio de Janeiro in August 2016 are the only other cities in South America to host the session.

On Wednesday, the IOC sent a letter to each of the National Olympic Committees responsible for the 2024 bids asking the countries not to host any more international sporting events prior to the Host City selection on Sept. 13.

According to the Italian National Press Agency Association (ANSA), Italian Olympic Committee president Giovanni Malago told the National Council of Rome that the request does not apply to events that are already planned and is an effort to prevent additional lobbying activities by the bid cities. Malago said the requirement "seems a just rule".
