(ATR) Thomas Bach will head to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan next week, Around the Rings has learned.
The German arrived in Baku late Thursday following a busy week of IOC meetings in Lausanne. Bach presided over a two-day executive board meeting and spoke at the Candidate Cities Briefing, also holding separate meetings with the Kazakhstan prime minister and Chinese vice premier.
The IOC president is attending the European Games opening ceremony Friday and watching some events over the first two days before departing Azerbaijan on Sunday for his week-long visits to the Central Asian countries.
Mountain biking, synchronized swimming, artistic gymnastics, table tennis, wrestling, triathlon, volleyball and wrestling figure among the events on days two and three of the June 12 to 28 games.
Mark Adams, the IOC’s director of communications, tells ATR that Bach will meet government leaders and Olympic committee officials on his three-nation Central Asian tour.
